Assessment of dyscalculia
As in diagnosing dyslexia, differential diagnostic assessment is used to establish the diagnosis of dyscalculia. Severity of mathematical problems is assessed and a profile of underlying cognitive factors that are important in (learning) mathematics, including indications and contraindications, is examined. By use of this differential diagnostic assessment, we aim to determine the underlying cause or causes of the mathematical problems and how dyscalculia can be distinguished from other explanations for the mathematical problems.
